A Muslim feminist responds to the hijacking of Islam by patriarchal extremists. Her unfiltered, stream of consciousness reflections provide a potent indictment of the surreal and sardonic world we now inhabit, and a welcome reminder that sisterhood is powerful. Part of Silk Road Rising's "Crescent and Star: Arab and Muslim Journeys" series, Jihad Against Violence: Oh ISIS Up Yours! will feature a staged reading of Fawzia Afzal-Khan's new play-in-progress featuring actors Gloria Imseih Petrelli and Priya Mohanty. The event will also include selections of Fawzia Afzal-Khan's short documentary, Siren Song: Women Singers of Pakistan, and a talkback with her, director George Potter, and Production and Literary Manager Corey Pond.
